Upgrading Your Engagement Ring
Getting engaged is one of the most exciting moments in your life. Sometimes it happens when you have other things going on so the expense can feel like a burden. This is when the conversation of upgrading your engagement ring down the road may happen. It’s standard for engagement ring jewelers to have an upgrade policy which allows their clients to trade in the original stone for a larger center stone. Here’s everything you need to know about upgrading your ring according to Lauren B’s upgrade policy!
Timing
There is a minimum three year period that you must have your diamond center stone before upgrading your engagement ring. After three years you can trade in your diamond. You can upgrade to a new stone as long as it is at least twice in value as the original stone. Please note that if the center stone was not purchased at Lauren B, it is not eligible for the upgrade program.
The Process
The center stone must first be inspected by our gemologist to ensure it’s in the original condition. The diamond must be accompanied by the original certification and sales receipt as well. If all checks out we would set you up with one of our trained gemologists to assist in selecting a new diamond together!
The Setting
Custom crafted settings are our speciality. With that said, there’s a chance that the upgraded stone will not fit the setting any longer. If this is the case, we will try to salvage as much of the original setting as possible. There’s a chance the entire thing would need to be remade. It is in your best interest that the setting be remade. This gives the ring that seamless, delicate look that our designs are so well known for!
