When choosing your engagement ring, one of the most crucial details to consider is your metal preference for the setting. While white gold and platinum are typically most common, colored metal rings are accelerating in popularity for many clients. Read on to determine the if rose and yellow gold is right for you!
Yellow Gold
For many customers, when one thinks yellow gold, they think traditional. Yellow gold is gold in its most natural form – even dipped metals like white gold eventually fade back into yellow, but require re-plating to revive the color. Yellow gold is a gorgeous option if you like a classic look that provides contrast to colorless diamonds, and can even be used to enhance paler gemstones (most commonly those with green or yellow hues). It is also flattering on many skin tones and pairs well with differently colored bands. For those concerned that the yellow adds warmth to a diamond’s surface, we also offer our settings in any variation of two-tone gold, allowing for a whiter base on an otherwise colored band.
Rose Gold
Rose gold is often seen as yellow gold’s “trendy” counterpart. At Lauren B., we use a very subdued (not too pink!) rose gold that flatters EVERY skin tone and pairs well with other mixed metal jewelry. Rose gold settings can add a splash of fun color to any ring, making it more unique to your personal style. We also do not use a dipped rose gold – all of our rose gold settings are cast IN solid rose gold to ensure longevity of color. A rose gold setting can also enhance the appearance of more translucent gemstones, such as Morganite and paler pink sapphires. While some clients are concerned that rose gold will go out of style, or are afraid to commit to a bolder look, we think rose gold is here to stay!
How Do I Decide?
If you have a difficult time choosing between the two options, think about the jewelry you wear regulary. Sometimes you can choose based on achieving a cohesive look with other existing pieces. Otherwise you may prefer the ring to stand out against your everyday accessories!
Since both colors are subtle, comparing rose and yellow on your personal skin tone may help make the final decision! Luckily, you cannot make a wrong choice, as either preference will result in a stunning ring design!
At Lauren B., any of our designs are available in rose and yellow gold by custom order. We also have an expansive range of these options in stock!
