There are a few tricks to maximizing the carat weight appearance of your engagement ring. Below are a few tricks that can be incorporated into any design to make your engagement ring appear bigger.
Delicate Bands
Perspective is very important to every engagement ring. A thin band behind any stone will make the center pop and appear larger You’ll see more and more rings sporting this trend. Among some of the most popular are Kim Kardashian and Blake Lively’s engagement rings. A wider band does provide a heavier feel which some find more comfortable. Just keep in mind that if you’re looking to make the stone look nice and big, you’ll want to keep the band thin!
Seamless Halos
A diamond halo is the single easiest way to make your center stone look larger. At Lauren B, our seamless and delicate halos add at least 1+ carats in appearance to the diamond or diamond alternative. The key to the halo working to make your engagement ring appear bigger is to make sure there is no negative space between the halo and the stone. You’ll also want to make sure that the stones in the halo are the same color as the center stone. Looking for an even bolder look? Add a double halo to your stone!
Floating Style Settings
The two main types of setting styles are floating and cathedral. Both can be found in classic and timeless engagement ring designs through the ages. Similar to the heavy feel of a thick band, a cathedral style setting gives a more substantial feel. However, from the top view, the stone appears to be hugged in between two shoulders of metal which can affect the perspective of the stone. A floating setting allows the center stone to sit in front of the band, again increasing the size appearance due to perspective.
