So you’ve purchased your Lauren B ring, but you’re waiting for a special occasion to propose.. what are you supposed to do with it until then? Many of our clients face this issue, as the proposal is typically an unprecedented surprise and the timing is crucial. For those who live with their future betrothed, it can be super difficult to hide a ring while simultaneously keeping it safe until it is in its rightful place on their loved one’s finger! Here are some helpful tips to ensure that your special moment stays a secret until you pop the question!
Store it at a Friend/ Relative’s Place
You can opt to have a trusted friend or relative hang onto the ring to guarantee that your significant other doesn’t see it – even having it directly shipped to someone will ensure that any packaging and jewelry remains unseen, so you won’t leave a trail!
Lock it Up
This is a great option if you live with your partner – a locked safe or a stored box/suitcase is a perfect hiding spot because it not only keeps the ring hidden, it also provides protection to keep the ring in a sturdy, clean environment. It is also helpful if you are waiting to insure your ring, as the less interaction the ring has with anything that could crush or break it, the better it will look when presented to your loved one!
Carry On – Don’t Check it!
A note to those who plan a destination proposal: Do NOT put the ring in a checked bag or suitcase. Not only are they typically inspected in the airport, which may ruin the surprise, but luggage is often mishandled and piled together in transit. The safest place for the ring when traveling is in your carry-on – that way it remains in your possession the entire time.
** Added tip: Do NOT leave the ring/ring box in a hotel room – you never know who will be passing through and potentially take it, and if by chance you leave it behind it is highly unlikely you will be able to retrieve it safely!
Disguise It
If you want to make sure to leave as little evidence of the ring as possible, keep it in something other than the Lauren B. ring box! Of course, your vessel of choice should still protect the ring, but a good decoy location will leave your future spouse none-the-wiser!
Leave it with Lauren B!
Clients often purchase engagement rings ahead of proposal time – typically when a special trip or event is planned, there is time in between a ring’s completion date and the actual proposal date. If you purchase a ring with us, we can hang onto the ring for you until you are ready to have it delivered. For those especially concerned about handling/storing an uninsured ring, your Lauren B. diamond adviser can make arrangements with you to pick up or ship closer to when you will need it.
