The main photo shows round brilliant cut center diamonds all weighing 1.70 carats. From left to right, it is dropped into a solitaire pave setting, a round halo and finally a cushion halo engagement ring setting. You can certainly see the “halo effect” of increasing the apparent size of the center diamond when you go from the ring on the left to the other two on the right. What is even more interesting is how the cushion halo to the far right adds an even more dramatic appearance than the round halo in the middle. The cushion halo fills out the edges more thus adding more diamond surface area and an even bigger look. Just something to consider when deciding between these styles.
Many people ask which diamond shape has the most sparkle? The answer is the round brilliant cut diamond. It is made to very exact specifications (angles, percentages, etc) and its completely symmetrical shape allows this diamond give off the maximum amount of fire and brilliance. That provides a dilemma for those who prefer a square or cushion shape engagement ring design. The solution, and a great middle ground, is adding a cushion halo around a round center-stone which gives our clients the best of both worlds. You get the amazing sparkle of a round brilliant diamond and the delicate, soft shape of a cushion. As seen in the photo above, you get the added bonus of adding extra surface area and larger look to the ring when creating a cushion halo as opposed to a round halo.
The most popular round in cushion halo design from our website is RS-125 (shown to the right) which has gained notoriety for its super delicate appearance. The 1.7mm thin cathedral style band slopes up gracefully and draws your attention to the impressive center-piece of the ring. The round center diamond is encased perfectly within a cushion framed halo for a seamless appearance and stands out against the backdrop of a very delicate pave band. The beauty of this ring is how everything flows together and, as with all of our halo designs, the center-stone and halo fit seamlessly together. Our rings are all custom made by hand- we start with the center diamond and carve out a halo that is fit to the exact measurements of the center-stone. This is why there is no gap whatsoever and it is difficult to tell that there is actually a round diamond within the cushion halo.
