With the launch of their latest venture, @BetchesBrides, and her upcoming wedding this summer, wedding band shopping was at the top of Betches CEO Aleen Kuperman’s list!
For all the brides-to-be, @BetchesBrides is a new outlet by Betches Media that offers a behind-the-scenes look at weddings, full of resources and guides to help you navigate the ins-and-outs of wedding planning. Their blog, written in their signature tone, highlights topics like “7 Tips for Writing the Perfect Wedding Speech” and “How to Decide Who Gets a Plus One.”
So, how about: where do I start when picking the right wedding band?!
Starter Pack
Aleen came in for her consultation and after seeing her ring, I started out with what I like to call our “starter pack” of wedding bands which includes our most popular options at LB that our clients typically go for.
First is a thin pave band, about the same thickness as the band of the engagement ring to match. Second, a thicker pave band, which is popular among clients because it shows some contrast with larger diamonds against the thin pave diamond engagement ring band. These looked great and paired well with her ring, but in the end, we deemed them too “matchy-matchy” for Aleen’s style and proceeded to try larger diamond bands.
Prong Set Band
I also mixed in a traditional prong set diamond eternity band. This style band doesn’t always “sit flush” with a pave engagement ring, however, we create a U-shape prong set band that works well next to our thin pave engagement rings. While this style looked beautiful, it was obvious she was looking for something not as common or traditional.
Fancy Shape Bands
Aleen still wanted something a bit more unique, so we moved on to fancy shape diamond bands! These are not a typical choice for a wedding band, they are most of the time-worn as anniversary bands on the right hand. But – as soon as she tried on the one, it was written all over her face!
We specialize in fancy shape diamonds, eternity bands especially, and had a wide variety available to show. Exploring all fancy shape diamond options, we tried on Radiant Cut, Emerald Cut, Oval, Pear Shape, and finally, Marquise.
FUN FACT: Fancy shape diamonds bands are more challenging to create than Round diamond bands! The length to width ratios as well as overall dimensions for each diamond in the layout has to line up perfectly to create a uniform eternity band!
The Winner
While the pear shape band was a close second, we decided on the custom Marquise diamond eternity band totaling 3.5 CT of fancy shape marquise diamonds.
It paired perfectly with her ring, a classic style but a bit edgier. We also created a solid yellow gold band and a white gold band for her fiancé, both of which we engraved with their initials and the wedding date. Her rings all looked amazing stacked together or could be worn separately, or even individually!
