So you are beginning your engagement ring search but the big question is where to start? With so many options out there from center-stone types and designs, it can be overwhelming. When you look at our Instagram page of thousands of ring posts and our website filled with over 800 gorgeous ring designs, all of which can be custom made any way you like it, you might get pulled in many different directions. Here are few tips to help you get going in the right direction:
Start with a Shape:
The easiest and best way to initiate things is a top down approach and that begins with the center-stone. Each center-stone shape holds something unique in terms of its appearance and the the way it will lay on your hand. We advise seeking the shape that best suits your overall style. If you are classic go for a round or emerald cut. For something more on trend try an oval or radiant. If you want something edgy consider a marquise or pear shape center. You can comb through all of our designs in our website video gallery to get a better feel for what may pique your interest the most. If you have the opportunity to do so we advise making a trip down to our store where you can try a variety of shapes on your hand to determine which way to go. Keep in mind this is a process and you may initially narrow it down to your favorite two or three and be able to make a final decision based on which ring design you think will compliment it best
Halo or Non-Halo:
This is another general way to start your engagement ring shopping experience. Halo refers to small diamonds surrounding the center-stone itself, while a non-halo design can consist of a single stone itself or one with accenting side-stone in a three-stone formation. Distinguishing which you like best between these very different styles can also help you determine the center-stone shape of interest because some shapes lend themselves better to certain designs than others. Of course with each style halo and non-halo there are many variations but at least you will have a general sense of what you like.
Band Style:
This may not be the best place to start but it is an important factor to consider in your overall engagement ring style. The simplest way to start would be deciding on a plain band or one with diamonds. After that you can determine if you want it to be split or straight as well as its thickness and any other details you would like to incorporate.
Metal Color:
While white gold and platinum were the only two metal choices many considered for their engagement ring designs years ago, the recent popularity of both rose and yellow gold leaves you with more to consider. Can’t decide between a white metal or a colored metal? You can always opt for one of our contrasting two-tone designs
Make a Wishlist:
On our website we have a great wishlist feature that allows you to favorite your top choices for ring designs and save them to your account. We have over 800 ring designs in our engagement ring gallery so trying to remember your choices would prove very difficult. Simply go to the thumbnail and click the blue heart in the upper right hand corner. If you want to save your list permanently then either log-in or create an account. You can also create a wishlist and share it with your significant other which is a not so subtle way of telling him you want that exact ring. If you want to get pricing on your favorite rings first and discuss it with one of our designs consultants then you can send it directly to them through our website. Lastly, you can print it out and bring it with you to your appointment at our store and match it up with the in store designs we have on hand
