Moissanites have become very popular, and for good reason. They are an incredible option when working on a budget. They range from $800-$1,000 per carat when compared to diamond which starts at $7,000-$10,000 per carat until you get to 3 carats. Because of this savings, working with a moissanite often leaves room in the budget for a more intricate handmade Lauren B setting. You can view some examples here. Some of our clients also prefer this beautiful alternative because they find it to be the most socially conscious option on the market while not sacrificing look or quality.
Why Moissanite?
Quality
Harro vs. Charles and Colvard; How they are similar:
- When considering Harro vs. Charles and Colvard both work based off of millimeter measurements which are translate into carat weight equivalents.
- They are known for their colorless DEF moissanite stones though both offer lower color equivalent options such as GHI near colorless. We work most often in the colorless range and those are most popular.
- Both come with a lifetime manufacturing warranty on the stones alone in addition to our Lauren B manufacturing warranty.
- They are about the same price point
Harro vs. Charles and Colvard; How they differ:
- Charles and Colvard are offered in a variety of standard sizes and cannot be custom cut. Their stones are very consistent in shape and layout.
- Charles and Colvard does not offer elongated ovals, pears, or cushion cuts. Harro however offers these elongated shapes.
- Harro moissanites show slightly less fire than Charles and Colvard. Keep in mind people love Charles and Colvard because of how much fire they show. Diamonds do show fire but not quite as much as Charles and Colvard which is why some of our clients prefer Harro.
- Harro stones come in standard sizes as well but can also custom cut any size not already available.
- Antique round and cushion cuts, also known as Old European and Old Mine cuts, are an option from Harro
The Verdict
