Is there a special way to clean a sapphire engagement ring?

If you are able to bring your sapphire engagement ring to the jeweler, cleaning the ring in an Ultrasonic will be safe. However, if you are at home, we recommend letting your sapphire engagement ring soak in some warm (not hot!), (dish) soapy water. After a few minutes, use a soft-bristled toothbrush to gently scrub away any dirt and rinse off the suds with warm water. Dry with a lint-free cloth.

Sapphire is a gemstone composed of corundum, an aluminum oxide mineral found in the Earth’s surface. On its own, corundum is a clear, colorless mineral as seen in the white sapphire; only when trace minerals enter the equation do sapphires gain their rainbow of hues with which we are most familiar. While blue is the most popular sapphire color, pink and yellow are a close second. Sapphires can be found in any color except red, as red corundum is actually a ruby! Like diamonds, sapphires contain natural inclusions but their value is usually determined by the depth of color with more vibrant blue colors being the most sought after. The most popular shapes for a sapphire engagement ring are oval and cushion and both look great in a wide variety of setting designs.
