September 20, 2017It's pretty clear that diamonds are a go to for engagement ring design, but how about all other accessories? Today we want to show you some amazing, fun, and unconventional jewelry pieces worn through the years. Stay tuned as we travel back
In 1998, Gloria Stuart donned the $20 million dollar Heart of the Ocean necklace from the Titanic film at the Oscars which was a more expected way to accessorize with diamond. However through the years plenty of celebrities have made a fashion statement with diamonds in the least expected places.
1999: Celine Dion
Martin Katz designed a custom diamond encrusted aquatic themed pair of RayBan sunglasses for singer Celine Dion which she wore at the 1999 Academy Awards. After wearing them, they were auctioned off to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
2002: Laura Harring
For the 74th Annual Oscars in 2002, Stuart Weitzman designed a $1 million dollar pair of diamond sandals for Laura Harring who starred that year in David Lynch's Mullholand Drive. The sandals featured 464 diamonds and were called the "Million Dollar Shoes"
2004: Allison Kraus
Stuart Weitzman did it again in 2004 by making the Two Million Dollar shoes for Allison Kraus to wear at the 2004 Academy Awards. These sandals features 565 Kwiat diamonds decorating a Cinderella inspired stiletto sandal. One of the diamonds is 5 ct. amaretto diamond, worth $1 million dollars alone.
2014: Nick Cannon
Talk about retail therapy! Not long after Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey divorced, Nick commissioned a local LA jeweler to customize his Tom Ford slip on loafers. He had them set with 14,000 round brilliant diamonds 14K white gold. This cost him $2 million dollars for the 340 total carat weight of sparkling diamonds. Currently the shoes are being evaluated as possibly the most expensive pair of shoes in the world.
In September of 2016, Rihanna blew every magazine cover out of the water with her diamond encrusted look. She donned custom pieces by Proenza Schouler, Jonathan Anderson, John Galliano at Maison Margiela. Even more spectacular were the 2 pieces from the historic Cartier collection.
2017: iPhone
The most expensive iPhone has arrived in 135 grams of 24K solid gold set with 600 flawless diamonds. The apple logo all is complete with a 26 ct. deep cut flawless black diamond as the home button. Interested in commissioning your own? This design and can be yours for a cool $15 million dollars. It takes 9 weeks to make thanks to luxury designer Stuart Hughes.
