October 11, 2015 Halo Talk: round diamond in cushion halo The main photo shows round brilliant cut center diamonds all weighing 1.70 carats. From left to right, it is dropped into a solitaire pave setting, a round halo and finally a cushion halo engagement ring setting. You can certainly see the "halo effect" of increasing the apparent size of the center diamond when you go from the ring on the left to the other two on the right. What is even more interesting is how the cushion halo to the far right adds an even more dramatic appearance than the round halo in the middle. The cushion halo fills out the edges more thus adding more diamond surface area and an even bigger look. Just something to consider when deciding between these styles.
